Your brake systems must be kept in decent repair, because of the fact that your life depends upon it! A bad or insufficient brake system can send you crashing through a guard rail, or spinning out of control into oncoming traffic. This is just the worst case situation, but even in the best case, it’sfrightening to feel your brakes fading. When your brakes first start to fade, the first thing you will notice is a squeaking noise. This is when you want to call in the break specialists, just as you would call in a commercial roofing contractor if your office’s roof started leaking badly. You need a authority. First this will come just every once in a while – a high pitched squeaking or hissing which is kind ofunpleasant. It may even stop for a while and come back once more. But after a while, and sooner rather than later, it will become a regular noise, going “squeak, squeak, squeak,” in the end with the rotation of your wheels. It is very loud, and other drivers could begin to give you looks. It is also annoying while you’re driving, drowning out all the hot new music pumping from your stereo, or chances are the Cathleen Falsani audio book you may have been playing.
If it continues, your brake systems will begin to squeal continuously, but you really don’t need to let it get to that point. This is because the sound you’re hearing is the rubber coming off of the rotors and the rotors squeaking up against the calipers. If you replace your breaks , all you have to get is new pads, but if you wait a while, you could need new rotors as well, and that costs much more money.
As long as you keep it in solid repair and have it checked out regularly, the brake system that your vehicle came with is most likely alright and does not need to be replaced with some fancy, custom system. There are some important things to keep in mind, still. When you get your brake pads replaced, it’smajor to take it easy for a while, at least untilthey brake in. If you do not do which, they will wear out at a high rate of speed, and then you’ll have to get new ones almost straight away! The best way to take it easy is to not drive very fast, drive conservatively, and above all, don’t brake abruptly unless you unquestionably have to. This will ensure that your brakes will break in gradually like they were meant to.
Of course, big semi trucks have different brake systems together. They’re called air brakes since they are powered by compressed air, and are much more powerful than the ones you have on your vehicle! Because of the fact of the tremendous load that they’re under, they can at times fail when the truck is going down a steep hill, causing it to careen out of control. This is why numerous mountain roads have runaway truck ramps, where trucks can careen into a bed of gravel which will stop their forward motion.
